Hello! I'm Nidhi Pitkar, a licensed psychotherapist with expertise in working with women, adolescents, youth & couples. As a SAC-certified Counsellor (Singapore Association of Counselling), I adhere to its ethical guidelines and am accountable to its complaints process. A copy of the same can be found on their website at Ethics Manual Of Procedures – Singapore Association for Counselling (sacsingapore.org).
I have a Master's degree in Psychology and a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling Psychology, along with more than a decade of experience in the field. My experience working in both India and Singapore has given me a profound insight into the distinct cultural nuances of South Asian and Southeast Asian communities. This allows me to provide you with a therapeutic approach that is both personalized and culturally attuned, ensuring that I connect with clients in a way that deeply respects and values their unique backgrounds and life experiences.
One of the foremost things that you will notice while working with me will be an agility, flexibility and adaptiveness to the quality of the sessions.
I primarily practice person-centered counseling but also incorporate other behavioral modalities to tailor my approach to each client's unique mental framework.
Person-centered therapy is rooted in the belief that every individual is inherently valuable and possesses the potential for psychological growth, self-improvement, and greater personal fulfillment.
I believe that, You are the expert on your own life, and I’m here to listen, support, and help you develop a plan that feels right for you. In my therapy room, the client leads the way......deciding the pace, direction, and frequency of the process. And, I ensure it remains a Safe Space where open communication flows freely, without judgment.
I’ve often compared human life to that of an elephant...with its ability to carry both joy and sorrow through the years. It reflects how we accumulate experiences that come together to form something much larger than what we can fully comprehend in the moment. Life, much like an elephant's journey, is a blend of both difficult and gentle, shifting and ever-changing. And much like an elephant’s memory, is a product of our memories, thoughts, realizations, learnings, and un-learnings.
The experience of fully living, then, is akin to slowly devouring that elephant—one bite at a time…
I view psychotherapy as a shared journey between the therapist and the client, one where we work together to explore and grow.
My aim is to help individuals heal, recharge, and tap into their inner strengths, guiding them toward becoming the best version of themselves, whether that’s by processing the past, navigating challenges in the present, or working towards a more fulfilling future.
A unique aspect of my practice is my commitment to integrating external resources when they can benefit the healing process. Whether it’s incorporating yoga, mindfulness techniques, or exploring nutrition, I strive to offer a holistic approach that nurtures overall well-being.
Therefore, with each successive session, my focus is on understanding your needs, not just to help you cope, but to move you closer to realizing your full potential.
