Yes. They do. We do individual sit-down work as and when the need arises to process issues or even when the weather doesn't permit walking outdoors.
This option is entirely up to you—you're welcome to use it or simply proceed with a more open-ended session arrangement. I offer this structure because I believe in working collaboratively with my clients to create a tailored, clear therapeutic plan from the start of our relationship. These plans can be structured as five or seven sessions, depending on the issue we're addressing. This approach allows us to periodically review our progress and make adjustments to the plan as needed, ensuring that we’re staying on track to meet your goals.
No. Walk & Talk Therapy is not an exercise module or a weight loss program. The goal of walk-and-talk therapy is to focus on you, your process, and your comfort level rather than how quickly or how far you can walk. It creates a sense of space for clients to discuss challenging topics, comprehend different obstacles and learn coping mechanisms while indulging in a meditative walk outside. It is not about how fast or far you walk but about using nature and the outdoors to gently help us in our journey within leading us towards positive mental health.
Each session is 60 minutes long. Any time exceeding 70 minutes will be charged on a pro-rata basis.
No. I do not offer free trials, but I do provide a no-obligation 30-minute consultation. This session gives us an opportunity to explore our working relationship and any questions you might have. Psychotherapy involves a process of gathering your history, understanding your worldview, and setting goals for the work we’ll do together. These processes require time and cannot be effectively addressed in ad-hoc trial sessions.
You’re absolutely right. Talking to a friend can be comforting and provide emotional support, but therapy goes far beyond just a conversation. It’s not just about having someone to listen—it’s about the depth and purpose behind that conversation.
Psychotherapy involves a trained professional who brings years of study and understanding into the interaction. Therapists use evidence-based techniques grounded in research to help clients navigate complex emotional, cognitive, and behavioral issues. These techniques are designed to foster growth, change, and healing in ways that go beyond what friends can offer.
While friends can provide empathy and a sense of belonging, they might not have the tools or perspective to help you deeply explore and challenge long-standing patterns or work through emotional blocks. A therapist, by contrast, helps you make sense of your experience, equips you with coping strategies, and provides a safe space to address difficult emotions or unresolved trauma without the risk of becoming emotionally entangled in your personal life.
In short, the distinction lies in the therapist’s ability to apply structured methods and maintain a level of professional distance, which enables them to facilitate transformation in ways that friends—no matter how well-meaning—simply cannot.
